The first show, in 1964, was the inspiration of several local breeders of Welsh Ponies. Soon, it had developed into one of the most prestigious Welsh Pony and Cob shows in England. With in-hand, ridden and driving classes, it appealed to a wide range of enthusiast of the breed.
After years of holding the show on the beautiful site at Cirencester Park, the 2020 show was to be held on our new site at Cocklebarrow Farm, just east along the A40 from Northleach. The show would have come home and due to the size of the venue it would have allowed us to bring the vehicles closer to the action. However, as you are all aware, we had to cancel the show due to the Covid pandemic and sadly we have made the decision to cancelled the 2021 show.
In the 2020 show we were going to introduce the Young Handler of the Year final, bringing qualifiers from other shows to Northleach.
But, lets all look forward to June 2022 when Northleach Welsh Pony and Cob Show will be back in business at Cocklebarrow Farm; so start planning and get your ponies as well as the young handlers ready, it will be the best ever. To give you some idea of what the classes and their organisation were going to be in the 2020 show, I have put the schedule on the result page.
I think it is important to have on record the history of the show, so if you have memories of the show, any past results, pictures, etc. send them to me for publishing on this website.
The show is most grateful for your financial help that originally was to support the 2020 show. You kindly agreed to carry your sponsorship forward to the 2021 show; we now look forward to welcoming you to the 2022 show and personally thank you for your support.
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
